Stone Initial Carving Workshops
Thank you for registering for one of our Stone Carving workshops at the Dry Stone Wall Maze site in Dalby Forest.
We hope you will enjoy leaving your mark on this unique piece of future heritage.
Below if hopefully all the information you require to make this an interesting and exciting experience. Please let us know afterwards what you think of it.
Where: Please meet at Unit 5 in the Courtyard in Dalby Forest, YO18 7LT, 15 minutes before the start time.
Directions: Enter the forest via the usual entrance. You will have provided your car registration when you booked on the workshop. This means that the barriers will open automatically to let you in and out of the site. Park your car in the main car park near the Courtyard and walk across the bridge into the Courtyard. Unit 5 is marked www.drystonewallmaze.com .
What to wear: Carving stone is dusty, so wear comfortable work clothes. PPE (goggles), tools and stone will be provided.
When: Please arrive 15 minutes before the start of the session and please allow sufficient time to get to the site.
What do I get: During the session you will learn the basics of letter carving. The Stone Carving Artist will explain how to carve your initials into a stone. The stone will be built into the Maze, so you will not be able to take the stone home. Once the Maze is completed you can explore it and see if you
can find your initials.
Length: Sessions will take approximately 2.5 hours, and will start at 10am and 1.30pm. Please arrive in good time so that the session can start promptly.
Toilets: Toilet facilities can be found in the Courtyard. The Stone Carving Artist will be able to direct you.
Access to the forest: Included in the cost of the workshop is the entrance to the forest for 1 car per booking. This means that you can bring other people in your car, however for practical reasons, it will not be possible for others to stay with you during the workshop. Dalby has many other facilities to enjoy and explore.
Can I carve more than one stone/more initials?
If time permits this may be possible.
Is my booking transferable?
Yes, you can transfer your booking to someone else. It is important that you let us know who will be attending the workshop so that preparations for the workshop can be made and we know who is on site.
Who is the organiser/Who do I contact if there is a problem?
